Perhaps my phrase was too long? Or did I take a word wrongly from the dictionary?
Is it perhaps better understandable as follows:
There are many other open source projects where it might be easier to get started. This is since they are really (=desperately) looking for more people who want to get involved (=want to participate).
Or completely paraphrased:
We cannot offer intensive mentoring for everyone.
But people looking for more mentoring can find this in other open source projects.
