I just tested. reiserfsck from latest reiserfsprogs is compatible with fsck. That is, I symlinked reiserfsck to fsck.reiserfs and on reboot fsck -a ran "fsck.reiserfs <device>" for all my reiser3 partitions.
So this problem doesn't exist anymore. Thanks!
