It helps! I hope that by "Windows" you ment Windows XP, cause Windows XP on a pentium class machine, the box hardly boots, so i guess comparing XGL and Windows XP on a current machine with a decent graphics card, it's a good comparison. But not on a old machine, neither for windows or Xgl.
