    What I do in my vcinit, the last steps I mean, is:

    reboot(RB_POWER_OFF); /* If halting*/
        or
    reboot(RB_AUTOBOOT); /* If rebooting */
    exit(EXIT_SUCCESS);

    And my vcinit doesn't panic ;)
