If essential information for contributing to the Linux kernel would be
available only for paying costumers of LWN this was my last day on
linux-kernel. [1]

Which patch are you talking about?
Greg's patch was made against 2.6.8-rc2 ...

[1] This is not meant against the LWN business model.
But in this case this is essential information that should have been
posted to linux-kernel before the first patch appeared.
