[1] Setting Vidmode > 0 causes BASH scrolling to hide the current line.
[2] Setting Vidmode > 0 with either rdev or as an argument to kernel mode
causes BASH scrolling to hide the most recent lines, after leaving 'X'.
The screen starts behaving OK, but then the cursor drops below the page
of text and vanishes taking the current line (on which you are typing)
with it.
