monitor should be the same, graphic card is different (radeon mob. compared to your ati rage mob.) and I should have a newer chipset.

yes, but IMO that is a driver/hardware feature and bug #18 is about missing synaptics features/options in the actual driver. I've glanced through the posted spec, but havn't found any helping information (OTH I'm not a skilled driver programmer).
