My all-modules build had the following problems.

1) linux/Makefile: bad compiler option?
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/data2/usr/local/src/linux-2.4-pre-aa/include -Wall
-Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common
-finline-limit=2000 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe
-mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -march=i686 -malign-functions=4
-DUTS_MACHINE='"i386"' -DKBUILD_BASENAME=version -c -o init/version.o
init/version.c
cc1: Invalid option `-finline-limit=2000'
make: *** [init/version.o] Error 1

On Debian 3.0r1 (which is gcc 2.95.4) I had to remove the offending
option.

2) the old drivers/char/scx200.c compile failure is still there (will
it ever be fixed?)

3) drivers/char/ipmi: same failure as before
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/data2/usr/local/src/linux-2.4-pre-aa/include -Wall
-Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common
