And all the things explained above just belong in to Documentation or the top level README :-).
And plese note that no matter how much I wellcome the clenups you did - you broke the usage of make -s! And this is quite painfull for spotting warinings during edit/compile cycle... Would you please dare to take a bit care of this. I would be really glad if you could.
