FWIW; i get the same trying to mount my Solaris partitions.
# mount -t ufs -r -o ufstype=sun /dev/hda4 /mnt mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda4, or too many mounted file systems
in my `dmesg` output, i get: UFS: failed to set blocksize
