It should support both, to my knowledge (which is very limited, mind you). I also went out to the store and purchased a new cable, which made the driver recognize the cable correctly, whereas it did not before. I wonder if there is not a serious deficiency in the cables sent out with motherboards, which is contributing to the problems a lot of people are having in this area. Hope this helps some.
