Hi Linus, Ok, 2.4.1-pre3 seems to work fine for me on my Thunderbird 900MHz system. At least, XFree86 4.0.1 starts properly, and the output of ps aux looks correct again, which wasn't the case with 2.4.1-pre1 (I never tried 2.4.1-pre2).
