SubjectAthlon optimizations still broken in 2.3.49
I just tried 2.3.49, and it looks like the problem compiling for Athlon is
still there. When I select Athlon as the processor type, I get the
following error, building as a K6 works fine:

    jtlayton@tlielax:/usr/src/linux$ make bzImage

    gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2

    -mwide-multiply -fexpensive-optimizations -march=i686 -fno-strict-aliasing

I saw someone else mention that this was a problem with headers, is there
    a fix for this?
