SubjectRe: Cylinder limits jumper for drives over 32GB

Olaf,

You have proven the valid case of onboard chipests and thank you.
This works only because of LBA translations.

Strip the drive and pass hdb=79406,16,63

root@p6dnf% fdisk /dev/hdg
The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 13870.
This is larger than 1024, and may cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software form other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)

Command (m for help):

13870*16*63 != 79406*16*63

Welcome to the world of 40GB becoming ~7GB......
Recall some time ago that people raged over the issue of forcing huge
geometry.

Cheers,
