It seems that the bitmaps are not handled in an endian-neutral manner, so a reiserfs filesystem cannot be moved between a big and little endian machine.
It seems to handle endianness just fine for other on-disk data structure, just bitmaps are not handled correctly. See ext2 for how this can be solved.
