Probably a problem in the module_init routines. To confirm, please install the latest strace (http://www.wi.leidenuniv.nl/~wichert/strace/) and "strace -rf -o /var/tmp/modprobe.strace modprobe bttv". Mail modprobe.strace to me (kaos@ocs.com.au), not to the list.
