I get the same:

Jan 29 17:17:06 work kernel: autofs: kernel does not match daemon version

using autofs 3.1.4

I have tryed autofs in the kernel and as modules hand loading them.
(works fine in 2.3.40)

Do you need to upgrade the software even to use autofs v3 ?
