Subject2.2.1[34]: /dev/ttyS1 affects /dev/ttyS0
Hi all,

I've just encountered the following with kernel 2.2.13 and 2.2.14...

I'm on a SuSE 6.1 (glibc 2.0 based) dual P133 (430HX) box.

Evertime a small application of mine opens /dev/ttyS1 the mouse being
connected to /dev/ttyS0 freezes under X. If I terminate the application
the mouse is usable again.

My application does the following (error handling is omitted here):
int port_fd;
struct termios port_mode;
port_fd = open( "/dev/ttyS1", O_RDWR | O_SYNC );
fcntl( port_fd, F_SETFD, 1l ); /* close on exec */
tcgetattr( port_fd, &port_mode ); /* get port mode */
cfsetispeed( &port_mode, B4800 ); /* set 4800 bps RX */
cfsetospeed( &port_mode, B4800 ); /* set 4800 bps TX */
tcsetattr( port_fd, TCSANOW, &port_mode ); /* set port mode */

What am I missing?

Please let me know if you need more information and please cc me since
I'm not
subscribed to this list. TIA.

Any help/pointer etc. is highly appreciated.

Best regards

Michael Kwasigroch
