SubjectAbit HPT 366 UDMA controller configuration

Sorry if this question had been ask before. I 'd been toying around
with the ATA 66 configuration for a couple of days but the results
from hdparm 3.5i does not seems to be promising ( or maybe I
misconfigure it )

The equipment setup is;
1. Abit Hot Rod hpt 366 ATA 66 PCI off board controller.
2. Kernel 2.2.10 + 2.2.10.uniform-ide-6.20.genam.patch
3. IBM DJNA-370190 7,200 rpm ATA 66 hard disk ( /dev/hda )
4. ATA 66 80 core cable
5. P III 450 Mhz + BX chip sets

I was puzzled by the results as it's buffered disk reads is
definitely faster than the ATA 33 drive ( my second ATA 33 drive is
5,400 rpm and this might be the cause ) > 5 MB/sec difference. This
results between Abit hot rod and my on board BX chip set does not
make any difference at all. My bios stated a UDMA 33 on the original
BX chip sets and when plugged into the Hot Rod card it identified the
drive as ATA 66 but the hdparm results remain quite similar.

I sincerely hope someone could enlighten me on this issue as there
are others who also bought the ATA 66 card but the results remain the
same. I would like to know whether it is my wrong configuration or
any faulty parts that might cause this results.

thanks
regards

with hdparm -tT /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 1.41 seconds =90.78 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 3.92 seconds =16.33 MB/sec

The boot up message reveals that the drive is identified correctly as
a UDMA 66 drive.

A closer look at hdparm -v seems to confirm that the hard drive is
also set to udma mode 4
