Hi ! I am sorry but I have missed your mails at the beginning. However, I think the problem you are describing is somehow related to what I've been reporting some time ago about ppp0 interface:

I retried this with 2.2.12 in the mean time. The problem of the ttyS* I was talking about didn't happen under 2.2.12, so I don't report it here any more.
