The version of pre-patch-2.3.15-3.bz2 I downloaded was 984877 bytes. [root@sparrow src]# cat kpatches-23/pre-patch-2.3.15-3 | grep -A 2 ^diff | grep filemap diff -u --recursive --new-file v2.3.14/linux/mm/filemap.c linux/mm/filemap.c --- v2.3.14/linux/mm/filemap.c Fri Aug 13 11:49:39 1999 +++ linux/mm/filemap.c Mon Aug 23 11:28:56 1999 diff -u --recursive --new-file v2.3.14/linux/mm/filemap.c.orig linux/mm/filemap.c.orig --- v2.3.14/linux/mm/filemap.c.orig Wed Dec 31 16:00:00 1969 +++ linux/mm/filemap.c.orig Mon Aug 23 11:15:53 1999
Now I go back to an ftp.bz2.us.kernel.org and download it again; the new one is 972683 bytes. The new patch makes some additional changes to filemap.c that appear to remove the error variable and removes the filemap.c.orig file entirely. Problem solved, I suspect. Sorry to take up everyone's time. Cheers, - Bill
