I just put a 4Mb stick into a 486 that had 8M previously, and now has 12M total, however meminfo shows that the total memory is now: 10649600, but that 12050432 is shared. What could cause this to happen, and why is 12M not showing up? Could it be something in the machine's BIOS?
[root@gw /root]# cat /proc/meminfo total: used: free: shared: buffers: cached: Mem: 10649600 10321920 327680 12050432 372736 4493312 Swap: 16904192 20480 16883712 MemTotal: 10400 kB MemFree: 320 kB MemShared: 11768 kB Buffers: 364 kB Cached: 4388 kB SwapTotal: 16508 kB SwapFree: 16488 kB
