I suppose I'm missing something here but why would this be a problem?
Say you have:
/dev/firewire/cd/* /dev/ide/cd/*
Then you have:
/dev/cd/ide -> ../ide/cd /dev/cd/firewire -> ../ide/cd
Or am I missing something?
