egcs snapshots (at least 2.93.x, 19 <= x <= 22) miscompile the
function drivers/block/ide.c:init_hwif_data; in particular, the noprobe
field is set to 1 when egcs-1.1.2 gives it the value 0.

Trying to make a decent test for the egcs crew just now.
