| |
some other people have supplied patches for some of these, but I thought I'd pass them all on...
to get 2.3.1pre3 to compile I:
changed linux/asm-i386/semaphore.h __magic to long from int to match waitq defn. (this has been fixed in patch from <androsyn@i95.com>
changed net/ipv4/tcp.c to printk lx from printk x (just a compile warning)
I get lots of type mismatches for
net/netlink/af_netlink.c arch/i386/kernel/apm.c
+ lots of other places where a struct wait_queue * is now the wrong type for sleep_on() and __wake_up(). Do we need a DECLARE_WAIT_QUEUE_HEAD here instead? I would do this + post a patch, but I'm not sure if its the right thing to do...
and:
fs/lockd/svc.c svc.c: In function `init_module': svc.c:325: incompatible types in assignment make[2]: *** [svc.o] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.3.1pre3/fs/lockd' make[1]: *** [_modsubdir_lockd] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.3.1pre3/fs' make: *** [_mod_fs] Error 2
325 is lockd_exit = NULL; where lockd_exit has been defined by DECLARE_WAIT_QUEUE_HEAD()
my guess is we don't need the assignment to NULL, but presumably we still need to initialise the wait queue for the module. Since DECLARE_WAIT_QUEUE_HEAD defines the variable as well as intialising it, do we need a separate INITIALISE_WAIT_QUEUE_HEAD defined to initialise the queue on module initialisation?
on a depmod -a 2.3.1pre3 I get the following errors:
/lib/modules/2.3.1pre3/fs/nfs.o: unresolved symbol(s) /lib/modules/2.3.1pre3/fs/isofs.o: unresolved symbol(s)
and on boot, a bunch of oops:
