If I go online with any of the modems I have here using minicom,
and then type "+++", the modem goes into command mode
immediately. No "AT" is needed. In order to do anything useful
from thereon of course one needs to enter AT commands, but as
soon as +++ is entered, the modem instantly responds with "OK".
