SubjectCan someone explain fs/ext2/bitmap.c to me?
what is this nibblemap? how is it determined?
The algorithm to calculate sum is so weird. I do not have a clue what it
means although I know this function calculates the number of free blocks
based on the bitmap.

unsigned long sum = 0;

for (i = 0; i < numchars; i++)
sum += nibblemap[map->b_data[i] & 0xf] +
nibblemap[(map->b_data[i] >> 4) & 0xf];
return (sum);
