If you don't want to use vesa framebuffer you can try SuSE X Server
(http://www.suse.de/en/support/xsuse/) for Rage 128 chip.
To have XF86Setup with its support you have to download SuSE
version from this page too. You can read about it there.
They're for SuSE 6.2 but should work with RedHats too.

Besides, I tried it (Debian 2.1 - slink, glibc 2.0) and X Server
and also XF86 Setup hanged without saying anything. So I have to live
with framebuffer with annoying 60 Hz refresh :-(
