Happens here on dual Pentium Pro 166MHz. (ldd core completely hoses machine with bad pmd directory) Needs a fix ASAP.
I've tested it on 2.2.0-final (2.2.0pre9), and the problem occurs on this kernel as well.
Definitely a paper-bag bug.
