Heh, seem to have forgot to put in the kernel version...
Linux cerb 2.2.0-pre7-ac4 #6 Sun Jan 17 00:32:21 CST 1999 One Intel Pentium 75 - 200 processor, 78.64 total bogomips, 64M RAM System library 2.0.7

Now I can *write* a CD just fine, but when I close or "fixate" the disc I get IRQ timeouts. Here is a sample from trying to "fixate" using cdrecord: > > scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 2346, scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Request Sense 00 00 00 10 00 > SCSI host 0 abort (pid 2346) timed out - resetting > SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0. > hdb: ATAPI reset complete > hdb: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } > hdb: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } > hdb: drive not ready for command > ATIP info from disk: > Indicated writing power: 0 > Is not unrestricted > Is not erasable > ATIP start of lead in: 190357 (42:20/07) > ATIP start of lead out: 66122 (113:103/47) > Disk type unknown > Manufacturer unknown (not in table) > hdb: ATAPI reset complete > hdb: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } > hdb: ATAPI reset complete > hdb: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } > hdb: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } > hdb: drive not ready for command > hdb: ATAPI reset complete > hdb: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } > hdb: ATAPI reset complete > hdb: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } > hdb: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } > hdb: drive not ready for command > hdb: ATAPI reset complete > hdb: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } > hdb: ATAPI reset complete > hdb: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } > hdb: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } > hdb: drive not ready for command > hdb: ATAPI reset complete > scsi0 : channel 0 target 0 lun 0 request sense failed, performing reset. > SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0. > unexpected done for sg 0 > cdrecord: Success. read disk info: scsi sendcmd: retryable error > CDB: 51 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E 00 > status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION) > Sense Bytes: F0 00 00 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 8A 1E 00 00 00 00 > Sense Key: 0x0 No Additional Sense, Segment 0 > Sense Code: 0x00 Qual 0x00 (no additional sense information) Fru 0x0 > Sense flags: Blk 0 (valid) > cmd finished after 3.189s timeout 240s > cdrecord: Cannot get disk type. > > This is the WORST one I have seen so far, it was caused by "cdrecord -v timeout=60 -fix dev=0,0". I have tried to raise the timeout value to as high as 120 with the same results. This CD was successfully "closed" in Win98, I was also able to write one all the way through using Windoze. So I know this hardware works, and is capable of doing this... > > -- > __ _ > Erick Kinnee | -o) / / (_)__ __ ____ __ > Burleson, TX | /\\/ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / > mailto:cerb@debian.org | _\_v____/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ > Debian GNU/Linux Maintainer | http://www.debian.org > "I picked up a Magic 8-Ball the other day and it said 'Outlook > not so good'.
