I have found that on a PYTHON DSS 2/4 single and four media devices, calling to /dev/nst0 will help. The pain with this is that I had to manage the drive myself. Since I am not a SCSI buf, my hat is off and I am screaming out of it............
Try it........it did help me by chance.
