ifconfig, mkswap/swapon, and several other things are outdated.
/etc/rc.d/init.d/kerneld doesn't use kmod when available.
/etc/nsswitch.conf misbehaves in 2.1+.

Red Hat 5.2 is not 2.2-ready.
