My guess is that you have indeed reached the maximum number of files
which can be open at a time. Forget this hypothesis if you haven't
encountered this problem with a yet heavier load.

Anyway if this is the case you just have to echo <more than 1024>
>/proc/sys/kernel/file-max and echo <more than 3072> >/proc/sys/kernel/inode-max.
