Sorry to say this but I use sound under linux a lot with my SB AWE64 gold and I have never once experienced a lock or oops or any other nasty from any kernel since 2.1.85 as far as I am concerned the sound code is rock solid on the AWE. I have had programs like amp running large directories of mp3's will placing the whole system under heavy loads like compiling kernel and reading WWW pages via netscape. This is as compared to NT which crashed every half an hour if using sound. -- G.
