After upgrading to 2.0.35 (and 2.0.36 pre-patch 6) the parallell port is very slow. Ghostscript (Alladin) spent about 10 minutes cpu time for 200k to a Epson Stylus 800 printer. The problem is not with gs though. lpd showed the same symtom with a preformatted file. I have not tried pre-patch 7. After changing back to 2.0.34 it worked again. # cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 cpu family : 5 model : 6x86 2x Core/Bus Clock vendor_id : CyrixInstead stepping : 1 rev 6 fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no sep_bug : no f00f_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 1 wp : yes flags : fpu bogomips : 119.60 I have no experience in kernel development - I just think it would be bad if a fix for this would not make into the final 2.0.36 release. -- Torbjörn Gard Linux :-) Tel +46 31 12 53 82 Elektrondata AB Fax +46 31 42 53 51 Järntorget 2 mailto:torbjorn.gard@elektrondata.se S-413 04 Göteborg Sweden http://www.elektrondata.se/ - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.rutgers.edu Please read the FAQ at http://www.tux.org/lkml/faq.html | ||||||||||||
