Subject2.1.119 Tape crashes
DateSat, 5 Sep 1998 16:33:52 +0100 (BST)
I'd not previous put 2 and 2 together on this but Im now fairly sure
that this is a direct relationship

I've had 3 crashes on 2.1.119 on my test web server. One was during a
backup and the other two were within an hour of a tape backup. In all
3 cases the machine simply froze solid.

About 300Mb of the backup is over NFS so Im not sure if the tape or
NFS side of things are to blame

Its a buslogic 946 controller, with a WangDAT 3100, an IBM DCAS-34330
and an IBM CDRM-00201 on the chain. I'll try the scsi locking patches
before I do the next backup run on it and see if the behaviour changes
