Well, in fact AMD a long time ago developed their own APIC standard called OpenPIC. This standard is supposedly better than the Intel counterpart, eventhough I myself can't comment on that - I've only read the OpenPIC standard.
Well, to make this short. Nobody supported this standard (in terms of motherboards) and I don't know if AMD still manufacture it's CPUs according to this standard (or if they ever have!). Well, you probably already knew all of this!!
