Subject2.1.119: defunct IP address still responds to pings
2.1.119: defunct IP address still responds to pings.

In 2.1.119 the local IP address from my last PPP dialup connection,
after it has been brought down, still responds to pings.

However, it is gone from the output of /sbin/ifconfig or /sbin/route.

This behavior seems to have started since 2.1.117, where it
didn't happen.

I have heeded the Documentation/Changes information.

I noticed this after wondering why a strange host appeared
in the output of xhost (while offline) and couldn't be removed.

Thanks,
