Again, I am getting a complete hard lock on bootup with 123. My system is built with all well known components.
Hardware configuration :
Dual Pentium Pro 200 w/ 512 k cache. * Intel 82441FX Chipset. * 320 MB EDO ECC RAM. * 2 serial ports. * 1 parallel port. * 1 PS/2 port. * 2 USB ports. * Adaptec AIC-7880
* 0 scsi devices.
Intel 82371SB PIIX3 IDE controller. * 9.1 GB Seagate UDMA HD. * 8X ATAPI CD-ROM. * 8X ATAPI CD-ROM.
Matrox Millinium II w/ 8 MB VRAM.
Intel EtherExpress Pro 10/100.
Crystal 4232 PCI soundcard.
I have tried with and without DMA enabled. The kernel locks right before initializing the IDE controllers.
Under 2.1.122 I got this :
Real Time Clock Driver v1.09 PIIX3: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 39 PIIX3: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later ide0: BM-DMA at 0xffa0-0xffa7, BIOS settings: hda:DMA, hdb:pio ide1: BM-DMA at 0xffa8-0xffaf, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:DMA
Yet now it locks after the RTC.
I have MTRR enabled due to my large quantity of RAM. My system never had a problem before 119. 120 caused some problems, but a patch Linus distributed helped me.
Any suggestions? I hear talk of the kernel being almost completed and cring at the thought of my inability to run it.
Nick
