hmm... I may have spoken too fast. Last evening, the server was again down, in a seemingly worse state than without the patch. Alas, System.map wasn't here, and I quickly lost all my working terminals to this machine, so I have no clue about what was going wrong (I updated my kernel building scripts, of course). One user told me however that he thinks he may have been over quota -- but he was filling his directory via Samba, so obviously quota-related messages didn't make it to his desk.
I'll try to stress the machine this noon (CEST) to get better clues.
