Its documented in the Cyrix errata and other notes. As to your fix there
is a much nicer fix which sorts out the APM problems as well as the timer
may stop problems and gives much better and faster clock handling. I've
been running it for a while now without trouble

Its done by Scott Ananian, Andrew Balsa, Phil Gladstone..
