The latest version of the PC speaker driver I could find is 1.2 and is based on a fairly old kernel. I hacked on it a bit to make it work with the modular sound driver in the latest 2.1 kernels rather than providing its own devices. If anybody's interested in this you can find a patch at

I ended up reorganising the code rather a lot so it's all in one file rather than a drivers/pcsnd directory. I suspect the mixer and parallel-port DAC support may have suffered somewhat in the process.
