Sorry to bring up an old problem.
If I corrupt loopback so it fails to transmit a few packets, I can emulate the same kind of TCP stalls that have frequented the kernel.
Corrupt patch....

It takes seconds to recover, sometimes many seconds. Throughput goes way down. Test program upon request.
