Please correct me if I'm wrong but my reading of the code indicates that the mtrr setup IS being done out of chrdev_init() (chrdev_init()->fbmem_init()->vesafb_init()->mtrr_add)(). While this is late in the boot sequence, it is still before smp_begin() is called is it not?
