OK, Terry claims that clients will "run away screaming" if they read the devfs FAQ, because they will have heart failure when they see the new naming scheme. Well, I don't agree that this is true. However, neither I nor Terry can reasonably claim either way. For every client Terry gets to support his view, I can get a client who supports my view.
Terry also claims that the FAQ doesn't make it clear that you can keep the old names. This I'm less sure about: it's in there, but perhaps it's well-hidden. I'll update the FAQ to attempt to make this clearer.
Finally, guys, can we please keep this civil? I'm starting to see the signs of a flamewar... Let's keep personalities out of this, and instead just discuss the technical issues.
