Hi:
I got problems with my sound cards... :-( i've tried to get my SB 64 to work but the problem is that when i load the modules the kernel loads'em for the CMI8330 Audio adapter(it's on my mainboard) because it's "Sound Blaster 16 compatible" (yeah right) and then the SB doesn't work because of the CMI :-(
I then compiled the modules for the MSS/WSS i planed to put the CMI in its WSS compatible mode so if i loaded the modules for SB i was hopping that the SB 64 would now work because the CMI was "busy" in his WSS mode, i did all that, when i load WSS modules the CMI works, but when i load the SB modules the SB 64 doesn't work and the CMI does :-(...
I was told that in 2.0.xx kernels you could have two sound cards if they are in different i/o ports... well the CMI in WSS mode uses io=0x530 irq=11 dma=0 and when i try the SB modules i put io=0x220 dma=1 dma16=5 irq=5 they are using different settings then why the CMI is the only to work, is it because the CMI is in the mainboard ???
I also tried to look in the bios configuration for something that would disable the CMI but i didn't find something or i got no idea how would be the option in bios to disable the CMI ??? What can i do ???
BTW i read in linux/drivers/sound/Readme.cards that you could have two sound cards SB but you had to put defines for SB2_IRQ, SB2_DMA.... in local.h where is that file ???!!!! i didn't find it, tried manually and with find /usr/src/linux -name "local.h" -print but got nothing
Hope these question doesn't bothers anyone and that someone can lend a hand on the matter
