Hi all,
I ran 2.1.113 yesterday. I migrated my root and other important filesystems from my IDE disks to a SCSI disk. Rebooted several times etc etc. At the end of the day I was happily running almost without any IDE disks (boot=/dev/hda in lilo.conf was the only essential thing on an IDE disk).
This morning the partition table for the SCSI disk is hosed. (all zeroes except for: 00000 1b 2a 73 31 30 34 39 30 48 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 .*s10490H....... ) It could be:
- 2.1.113 kernel bug? - ncr53c8xx driver bug? - bad termination? (Unlikely, two other disks on the chain have been working great for ages...)
- bad disk? (On saturday it did "kloing" and hung my system and then got VERY hot during the fsck of the other filesystems. (it wasn't in fstab then). After taking it out and back to the shop, it worked perfectly..... for a while) Anyway, I recommend to treat this as "not a kernel bug but something else with this guys system". Unless of course this happens to more people.... hda: Quantum Fireball SE 4.3 sda: Quantum Fireball ST 6.4 sdb: Quantum Fireball SE 6.4 sdc: Quantum Fireball ST 6.4 CPU: Pentium Pro 150. 96Mb RAM.
