I hate both of those names, pt makes me think pseudo terminal.

How about you name your device and driver pmt, for Parallel Magnetic Tape?
Or even pamt (Par. Atapi Mag. Tape). I'd go with the first over the second,
unless there is a parallel port Non-Atapi tape drive that is being used.
