Does anyone know why the line in drivers/block/Config.in to allow you to enable IDEDMA has been commented out?
I have been using IDE DMA for ages and it gives me a x2 speed up on the hdparm speed test. My drive is a Quantum Fireball SE (Stratos?) 4.3GB.
I know some people have been suggesting changing the default setting to off, but in the kernel 2.1.111 bz2 file I just downloaded the option to enable it has been completely removed....
Are people still having the disk corruption problems which occured in the 2.10x kernels (I believe one of them did some minor disk corruption to my disk, which I then caught with 2.1.106 when a routine fsck occured).
Cheers Mark
