It already is out-of-line, it only takes up space in the image, not in the icache (unless it triggers, obviously). That's what the "spinlock()" code does (and always has done) with the clever linking segment code.
(That, btw, is also why it's larger now. The long jumps out-of-line and back is what makes it grow).
